The national neurodiversity team are a small neurodiverse team funded by Welsh Government and hosted by the Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA), working in partnership with Health.
They work towards their aim by:
- Working closely with stakeholders across Wales: the neurodivergent community, Welsh Government, local Autism/ND Leads, Local Authorities, third sector organisations, Health Boards, and Advisory Groups
- Following the Code of Practice on the delivery of autism services.
- Providing training materials such as eLearning modules freely available for all organisations to complete.
- Co-ordinating meetings of the Autism Leads forum. The forum offers an opportunity to collaborate in developing and revising key resources and work on an all Wales basis
- Working closely with the Integrated Autism Service.
- A commitment to co-production
- Creating free bilingual resources for neurodivergent people, parents/carers, social care, health, education and employment that anyone can access (some people may find specific sections particularly useful)
- Working closely with Universities and researchers to help inform and support on their research
- Working with data collection services such as Data Cymru and NHS Wales Executive to help shape and inform data around neurodivergence
- Supporting policy development by taking part in Working Groups and Advisory Groups
